Find a company with international presence. That’s the easy part. The hard part is that you’ve got to learn skills that make you marketable for internal job postings later down the road. The later down the road is key. Nothing is more frustrating as a hiring manager to take a chance on someone to have them then say “But what I really want to do is…”.
The hard fact is that you’ve got to put in your time to get a crack at an international role. It’s expensive to move people and many postings don’t work out. So companies don’t want to take green staff and place them abroad.
Do a great job and when you rack up some wins, then share in your development meetings that you’d like to broaden your experience. For the company - to help them meet their objectives. It will take time. And that’s ok. You need a solid skill base to be able to add value abroad. You’ll be more successful for it.
