Well that's an interesting question because it really depends on who you are asking.

For many Nationalists (mostly Far-Right or Right-Wing, but there are some on the Left including some notable figures) the term Globalist is really just used as a slur. Often times as simple as replacing the word “Jew" or “Jewish” with “Globalist" to make them seem less anti-semitic and paranoid. But in general for Nationalists it is used to mean someone who is part of a Global Wealthy Elite (you can see why so many Anti-Semities interchange “Jewish” with it) who wants to dominate the world through the use of immigration, demographic change, and free trade to weaken the Nation-State and National Identities.

In reality of course nobody (well I'm sure you may be able to find SOMEONE to fit this definition since you can find someone who believes in pretty much anything) is actually like this. That isn't to say that there isn't a significant number of people who believe in Open Borders, Immigration, and Free Trade. Just that no one thinks like that. Nationalists find Globalism to be the epitome of evil and thus Globalists are evil at heart or at best misguided.

A more useful definition of a Globalist is someone who believes in Global Integration as opposed to the Segregation of Nationalism. Globalism is the belief in the equality of all Human Beings, and thus if “seperate but equal is inherently unequal” then it only makes sense that people should not be seperated, discriminated against, and limited based on arbitrary factors such as where they were born or live, etc. And, no they aren't all rich wealthy elites. Though they do tend to lean more highly educated.

A Globalist believes that the World should be integrated Economically, Politically, Socially and Culturally (often times to varying degrees of each one). And yes there is a difference between integration and domination.

Hope that helps, I've been meaning to answer this for a while. If you have any questions you can ask me as one of the few Self-Defined Globalists I'm aware of and surely on Quora.

And no I'm not rich and no I'm not paid by Soros (I wish, LOL).
