JERUSALEM - US Technology giant IBM filed a $51 million counter lawsuit in an Israeli court against Israel Chemicals company (ICL) on Monday, concerning a dispute over a failed computing project.

Last December, ICL, which manufactures fertilizers, metals and chemicals, filed a $300 million lawsuit against IBM.

ICL alleged that its harmonic information platform, carried out and led by IBM between 2012 and 2016, have failed and caused heavy losses.

ICL also claimed that "IBM's failures have taken various forms, including poor work, lack of knowledge, experience, resources and skilled personnel."

According to ICL, it invested $300 million in the project, one third of which was paid to IBM.

In the counterclaim, filed alongside the statement of defense, IBM claimed that "ICL refrained from making certain payments, conducted negotiations in bad faith, and terminated the project unilaterally, in a way that harmed IBM's reputation and goodwill."

IBM further claims that, in September 2016, ICL notified it unilaterally without prior notice of the termination of the project.

IBM also claimed that "ICL's position and the decline in its profits led to its decision to cancel the project."
